Going Near To God

James 4.8.png

In James 4:8 (NIV), it says “Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” To further explain the ‘double-minded’ understanding, it is already mentioned to us in Matthew 6:24 (NIV) that “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

I bring this up because I had a dream last night that was kind of… awkward, meaning that I couldn’t understand it… but I did understand it’s message: To fully devote myself to the Lord rather to sacrifice my soul for materials on earth. Let me explain my dream to you.

I was in some kind of town or city that had about 4 or 5 homes that were in front of me along the side of a dirt road. Anyways, in my dream, for some reason, I wanted to be a comedian (not in real life) and entertain a grand amount of people that I could hear laughing from a center near my location. As soon as the thought popped in my head, a man, out of nowhere, was in front of me sitting at a dining room table of some kind in a home. He gave me a pen and told me that he can make my dreams come true, which sounds more of like a fairy tale story. In my dream, I signed this contract with the man smiling at me, but before I could see his face, I woke up out of my dream.

Lately, I have been reading headlines and I have viewed many videos that explained how fame and fortune isn’t worth selling your soul for. I kid you not that my dream felt too real, which I know that in real life, my soul or spirit belongs to our Lord in Heaven. When you sell your soul (to Satan), that means that he can have and do whatever he wants and whenever he desires you to do those things. God wants the best for us, whereas the enemy wants to break us to have our souls in whichever way he can gain a soul.

Someone might ask: “What does this have to do with my blog post?” Give me a second because I had recalled a similar dream that, after waking back up, I cried in my bedroom over.

Years ago, I had this dream where I was inside of a locker room with a younger child on the other side of the small locker room hall. As we were changing in our locker room, a tall-like beast in red bust through our door and looked at both of us as if he could read our minds, as we somehow also read his as well. He looked to the young girl and asked her if ‘she wants to die’? The girl said ‘no’, and then the beast turned to me and asked me the same question. As soon as I said ‘no’ in my mind, he turned back to the young girl… and by us simply “mind reading” each other’s thoughts, I heard the young girl ask me “Why” as the beast quickly approached her… and then killed her in front of me. đŸ˜„ I, then woke up, cried my tears, and I prayed to God for forgiveness and to help me grow closer to Him.

That was one dream that hit my heart so bad to where I still remember it and I felt responsible for a girl’s death in my dream, but know this for certain that I would never do that in real life. I would’ve sacrificed my life for the child. My room’s pillow was drenched in my tears… but  I kept trying to remind myself that it was only a dream.

I say all of this to you because we know, for certain, that the enemy of the Lord will do whatever he can to break us down, but guess what? There’s always light that comes in the morning. I love the Lord by my side daily and have His presence there, because without Him, my life would be full of so much darkness. No, I do not know what you’re going through in your life, but know that just because you are living that way, does not mean you have to remain that way for the rest of your life. You have a way out by following the Lord’s Light. That same ‘Light’ years ago that I had awaken to from what I classified as a ‘dark’ dream was God’s morning light. It helped to ease my pain and fears that day and to show me that He was there.

The closer you grow to God, the more at peace you will be physically, mentally, and spiritually. Stay strong everyone.

His Ways Are Greater Than Ours

An Image from Whollyloved

Before I begin, I would like to thank the creators of the website ‘whollyloved.com’ for sharing this image from their blog article titled “When We Don’t Understand”, by Dawn Ford.

In Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV), the Lord mentioned something key for us to remember. He states “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” This was not to belittle anyone, but (as always), to share the truth with us.

Out of curiosity, a question arose: ‘What if God ONLY listened and done OUR HUMANLY requests and worked by our own thoughts? It’s a scary thought and feeling because, as sinners, the worst of the worst could have been the result; following the serpent’s intentions. Example: One of the 10 Commandments in the Bible is “Thou shalt not kill.” By worldly thoughts, situations, and standards right now, it is legal to kill a human if you have a permit to ‘Carry A Concealed Weapon’ (CCW) in the US in a few states; one of those states being my home state of Michigan. In the Book of Ephesians, Chapter 6, it speaks of us to keep and use the ‘Armor of God’ as our protection because it is more of a ‘spiritual warfare than a physical one.’ It is sad because, despite the age ranges, more people have been harmed or killed for various reasons. The only reason why the death-toll numbers, from weapons, are not HUGE is because of God.

He keeps us in order (as a parent), He comforts us (continuously giving us strength when we are down), and He remains walking along our sides 24/7. His Ways are way much higher than our thoughts and our ways. It was in Matthew 4 where it talks about how the Devil tempted Jesus, and each time, what did the Lord do? He refused the Devil’s offers every time.

In Matthew 4:8-10 (NIV), the third time the enemy tried to get the Lord to follow his ways, it says “‘Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, ‘Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'”

I will be honest: I, too, have my days of thinking about giving up on everything, but there was a problem. My heart would ache and it felt as if I was being pulled by someone or something to ‘do good and turn away from rage. If God is my supporter, why do I need to try to do things that are not obedient and of His ways? It is due to one evil spiritual being that wants to have the Heavenly throne: Satan himself.

God keeps us in order and the only thing He asks for us to do is turn to Him and speak to Him. He will be the one to avenge those that have harmed us. All we have to do is trust in Him, have faith in Him, and walk with Him.

He Overwhelms Me With Gifts – Poem

james-1-17

To wake up and feel your warmth from the Sun you created,
to every morning's beautiful nature; I am ecstatic and elated.
You never stopped believing in me whenever I wanted to quit,
but You've continued to send me more blessings that weren't a little bit.
Lord, I am choking up because tears are still flowing from my eyes
due to one of the greatest gifts You could ever give me as a surprise.
I praise Your Name, Lord, more than once... more than twice,
for blessing me to hug my niece for the first time in my life.
To me, it was one of the greatest gifts I couldn't stop from shouting out.
My love for You GREW, where it's You I cannot live without.
It's You that can make my saddest days into something of light.
It Is You who can turn the earth's gloomy days into something so bright.
Praising Your Name, Father, always and forever more.
Praising Your Name while I yearn to walk through Your Light of open doors.

Craving The Pure Milk of His Word

1 Peter 2-2.jpg

In 1 Peter 2:2-3 (NIV), it says “like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.”

I remember the first time when I was studying and learning about the Word of God and the Lord with my job supervisor, who soon became my spiritual mother, a decade ago; I was 18-years old and just graduated from high school. At the same time, I wanted to learn more, read more, and hear more about the Lord… for some strange reason. Our studies even went for so long as to ending about 3 am in the morning, even with us knowing that we both had to get right back up at 5:45 – 6:00 am that morning for school (me) and for work (supervisor). I craved to want to learn more about the God so much that, while attending college, in my spare free time, I visited different bible study groups that were in sync with my schedule. On my 19th birthday, as the greatest gift I could ever receive in my life from anyone, my spiritual mother gave me my first bible; not the giant-sized bible but a personal one. In turn, I studied more, learned more, read more, and it felt as if I had experienced my own form of ‘ADDICTION’ for the first time in my life.

I say all of this to say that I had moments and days when I was afraid to ask questions, and to read about the creation of the world, Jesus’ time on Earth, and what he experienced, I felt bad for what He went through and even those described within the book. After just reviewing a scripture or attending church services with my grandmother to listen more, I soon heard, from my spiritual mother, that it was a form of “opening my heart and accepting His Word.”

My ‘ADDICTION’ was my ‘spiritual addiction’, and my bible became my medication. As I remember those first years of learning God’s Word, I was a ‘newborn baby’ learning, hearing, and listening to sounds, gospel music, and the like. There was no negative side effects to it, but rather, I felt safe by reading His Word, just as a child feels safe in their parent’s arms for the first time. That sense of feeling ‘safe’ is what God wanted us to understand and know, is that the more we believe, rely, and walk with Him, we can fully understand and learn that He is safely protecting us under His Wings. All of your answers to the questions you may have are all found in His Word for one reason: For all of us to learn, to know, and to spiritually grow.

I Am Strong… And So Are You

CAM01090

Regardless of what challenges we face, always remember that you are strong. I recently ordered this bracelet from an Avon representative that I could not stop gazing on one of the page’s brochure. This bracelet meant a lot to me, instead of it being for fashion.

Instead of giving up on our dreams and giving up on helping our societies, our families, and our friends, “YOU” can affect and make a difference in this world, whether you believe me or not.

In Matthew 17:20 (NIV), the Lord made a statement on the topic of what it means to have faith in Him. He said “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

No amount of challenges can overcome you. When I think of ‘Faith’, I think of another word that I enjoy living by: ‘Bravery’. I have ‘faith’ in Him so much so that it causes me to feel ‘brave’ over my challenges and I can quickly sidestep and brush off those days of being overwhelmed with pain.

You might be asking “What does your testimony have to do with what the Lord has quoted in the bible?” My answer: One thing I always  gain whenever I read a quote, a prayer, a song, or even the laws within the bible is an increased Faith within my spirit. My faith and continued trust in our Heavenly Lord, Jesus, is what gives me that nudge and push to keep on fighting. The enemy of God is trying his hardest to tempt me and to force me to turn away from the Lord in any way that he can try to get hold a foothold on my spirit. Ephesians 4:26-27 (NIV) says “in your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.”

I imagine the enemy as being my home’s rug mats that I would use to wipe my feet. I believe in the Lord and I know that despite us not being able to physically see the enemy, God is spiritually taking care of all of all of us that continue to believe and have faith in Him.

I will not yield or stop moving because of what the enemy expects for me to do. I will keep on moving, staying strong, and keeping my faith in Christ.

His Word Is Our Spiritual Instructor

130822-TH-Gods-Word-Our-Foundation

In 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV), it says “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

We hold a mighty book in our possession and within our homes. Let’s say that you are someone that doesn’t own or have a bible within your hand or your home that is not within your grasp. As substitutes, there are many bible platforms and study resources that are available to you. One site I use is Bible Gateway. I will admit that I was referred to this site by a close friend, who also was the one that taught me about Jesus Christ and why I should always stay in prayer and have faith in Him. She is my Sister in Christ and she also bought me my first bible.

I bring all of this up because not only do we have biblical resources (bible, internet, friends, family, bible study groups, etc), but what we have even closer is being able to ‘hear’ God’s messages, the tool to teach others, and we can begin to let it bloom within our brother’s and sister’s hearts as that of a mere seed that needs to sprout. In Matthew 17:20 (NIV), it mentions “He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

It is not impossible for us to share, talk about, and teach others of God’s Word. It is not impossible for us to slow down our busy days, take a moment to relax, and to seek peace within our spirits that came from God. It is not impossible for us to also learn something new and our students are learning something new as well.

In our hands, online, or on paper, we have notes that spoke of the most powerful Words that came from our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, the Son of God who came down to earth and is known as the human form of our Heavenly Father.

I will assure you that every time you read of His Words and what He has done, it is as if there is always a new lesson, a new story, and a new verse that is always teaching us something new that we never had paid attention to the first time we have read the same sentence. It will be all worth it in the long run.
